Fashion Show WTF

I love to go to fashion shows! I love to see how the models wear the new & creative designs ad I am always in awe of how they can adjust each prim perfectly.

Imagine my horror when I saw this model walk the catwalk!  If you look closely at her waist there is skin showing under her belt, apparently lack of good prim adjustment. Then let your eye gaze down to the feet! OMG!!! I felt so bad for this poor girl, but then I thought, she is a professional model, she went to a modelling school somewhere on the grid (In know, but I ain't telling), she is getting paid for this showing.

The lesson here to learn is" ALWAYS spend the time adjusting your prims and please check your feet, a little invisiprim will do wonders!

Tragedy Strikes Me Again

I swear, when it rains, it pours & that has been evident in my personal life this past few weeks.

As most of my readers know, I lost one of my 5 greyhounds ~Trigger~ on February 15. It was a sad loss yet one I had accepted and was beginning to heal from.

Last Wednesday, as I was packing up to come home from babysitting my granddaughter, I receive a phone call from my son, saying one of my other greyhounds ~Morgan~ was in distress. I raced home to find him unable to breathe and knew I had to get him to the emergency vet ASAP. Morgan was not going to recover from what appeared to be a "vascular accident" so, with great pain in my heart, I gave him the freedom to fly with the angels & be free of pain.

As hard as we try to love each equally, it's natural that one will grasp your heart a little tighter. Morgan has a tight hold on my heart. Always wanting to be by me, to please me, to comfort me, just content to love me. Morgan was my best friend, my sleeping buddy, my baby & my beautiful boy. He was always funny & made me laugh with his goofy spirit.

I received Morgan when he retired from the Dubuque, Iowa race track in October 2005. He was also a top racer in Wheeling, WV, a track where only the best greyhounds are sent to race. He came into the adoption kennel where he stayed until I was able to bring him home in February of 2006. He immediately took to his litter mate Calamity,  that I had already adopted. They were inseparable & great playmates.

 Morgan always had a toy near him & usually slept with one under his head.

He had the most beautiful face. I'll never forget looking at his face, in his eyes & touching his soft, white fur.

God Speed Morgan ~ have a safe journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I'll see you again someday, my friend.

Ydea Group Gift

Oscar Dresses

As I watched the Academy Awards, I was in awe of the beautiful gown the actresses got to wear to this gala event. There were a few ~ ok MANY ~ that I secretly hoped someone in SL would design for  me to wear in there. I know there are many wonderfully talented designers that can make duplicates & I hope to see some soon.

DCNY Reopens

DCNY reopened it's new store at Copley Square this weekend with fabulous new items in a color palette that told me spring really is around the corner!

Purple Moon ~ Special

I got a 55L Thursday notice from Purple Moon for this cute dress/gown. Usually I don't go for light pastels, but something about the design & versatility of this dress called me. I think it's the tulip-like look of it that makes me yearn for springtime. Whatever it is, I do like the design & the many ways you can attach or detach the prims for a different look anytime.

I'm not sure how long she will leave it out for 55L, but it was here on Saturday.

It's a Purple Moon

I love going to Purple Moon & wandering around the gowns dreaming I were a princess (Oh! wait I AM a Princess!) or a movie star or model or just someone who gets to wear these beautiful gowns everyday! I love the colors and the details and I love the way the shop is laid out so I can dance around in my head to my heart's content! She also designs really nice casual wear which makes me very happy.

Song decided to join the Purple Moon group for a small fee of 50L. The 2 dresses she got in return was more than worth the joining fee! We look forward to more exclusive group gifts from this wonderful designer!

Semper Fi ~ Trigger 1-7-2002 - 2-15-2011

This was my beautiful boy, Trigger, when he raced at the Woodlands Race Track, in Kansas City.  I watched every race he ever ran here and became friends with his racing owners who agreed to let me adopt him when they retired him from racing. He was starting to slow down in the fall of 2005 and they chose to let him run 3 more races and then he would retire & come home to me. On the day of his last race, he came in first, I was so afraid I was going to have to wait longer for him, since he was on an upswing but no, they said he would retire a winner! After his medical stuff and some recuperating, he came home with me on October 12, 2005. He adjusted like all greyhounds before him had, just like he had been waiting all of his life for a couch to call his own.

In the time I had him, he was the most gentle soul of all the greyhounds I have ever owned (12 of them!) and close to the funniest. The rare times he had an accident in the house, it was in the bathroom, where he had lifted his leg on the toilet! Did I say he was smart too? He always knew when it was time to eat & always starting "telling" me about 10 minutes prior to meal time. I swear he wore a watch somewhere!

He had the funniest ears that went up straight & out, like the hat of the habit Sister Bertrille wore on The Flying Nun. They were cute!

I lost this beautiful boy this week, on Tuesday. He broke his leg and upon x-ray, we could see his femur riddled with the cancer ~ osteosarcoma ~ the monster cancer that takes the lives of a lot of greyhounds. I would not let him endure another minute of pain, I set him free.

There won't be a day that passes that I won't remember him or miss him. My life was richer to have shared the time I did with him.

Thanks to my friends in Second Life that have sent me condolences. It means a lot to know you care about my feelings.

Pretty In Pink

Donna Flora is always a great store to find beautiful designs, period pieces costumes & various other items that one might need. Dresses, shoes, hats, hair, accessories, you name it, it is there & with great style. For men also! The Carousel dress is something everyone must see and the Cage dress!

Very creative designing is what you will find in this shop as you walk through the Italian feeling building. Squinternet Larnia puts her visions & dreams into everything she designs! I really don't think I have seen more creativity in SL.

You will find this cute, flirty Bijoux dress in the dollarbie area just outside of the main gate. You'll find other assorted items & a lucky chair.

While you are there, take a stroll around the sim, Grab an ice cream at the vendor & play at the playground. Sneak into the art gallery and enjoy the fine work of Evaline Merlin. Grab a scooter & ride around the beautiful sim. There are other shops to slip into also.

Make a trip to Donna Flora a destination, not just a visit to a shop!

Shoes I Love

This week I have 2 favorite pair of shoes. Neither are free, but both are wonderful in their own way.

First are my Maitreya Gold, Hana in Raspberry. I have many Maitreya Gold shoes but I believe these will become my favorite. I can see me adding some basic colors to my collection also. Always a good sign!.

I love the way the ruffle at the heel reminds me of a beautiful flower petal with the different colors I see in it. It looks so lovely & feminine on the foot.

These shoes are HUD driven and are resizeable as well as being able to tint the skin to perfection & the nails!

I know you will love them as much as I do! Even with the 975L price tag.

Todays Freebies

Today C2 is wearing a few things she found out while travelling the grid. We'll share them with you.

First is her skin. BeciLia put out their group gift for February, Barbie Skin. It's rosy cheeks remind me of just having takes a walk on a brisk day. It's a very soft skin.

Next is her hair. Heart Softens has created a group thank-you for 4000 members. You will get 6 hair colors in this pack and all have a cool jazz hat & bangle earrings attached.

Latex or Bust

I am so not sure what this fashion is or, with so little skin showing, why she even shops at a great skin shop, so if someone knows, please tell me! Does that get-up make her sweat a lot? Does she need medicinal strength deodorant or does she just not care if she smells? Do you wash that in the washer or just hang it in the shower for a quick rinse?

I'm scared.

Free Day

You know when I get bored I like to find outfits for free. So off I went on one of my new alts to find some freebies that would fit her style.

First, we went to Jane. I gotta say I love this shop! Jane Marlowe is more than generous with her wonderful designs! Made for everyday wear & as comfortable as my 8 year old sweats! At Jane we picked up the always free, 31 colors, intrinsic tanks which are a great item to have on all avis. While we were there we saw Jane had set out a set of free skirts. Six colors which match the colors in the free tank pack! Almost all of Jane's colors will match the basic colors she uses! Yes, I am in love with this shop!

Beside Jane's shop is a little hair shop, Raspberry Aristocrat, where we picked up a fat pack of Chai Anxiety hair in 29 colors. You will be able to find a color you like in this pack. It's a great everyday style too!

Now off for shoes. We went to Maitreya where we got a box of basic pumps when we joined the group. There are 15 colors of pumps in this box! A color to match just about everything you will ever own! A fantastic deal just for joining a group!

We went to Candy Nails to get a manicure. For joining her group you will get a set of prim nails that are lovely! We got the January birthstone nails. Then we waited by the lucky board for another set of nails!

It was a good exercise in free shopping!

EUPHORIA ~ Sim Hunt

Euphoria is having a sim wade hunt that is quick, easy & brings you some nice gifts. I did the hunt in around 30 minutes!

Here are a sampling of the items you can find.

First this little navy dress is from Baiastice, the earrings are found st Sigma and the skin is at CIA Designs (which also has some really cute outfits for little linden!).

Next is a dress from Chantkare which I pared with a little jacket from The Secret Store (look at the great prim buttons!).

These are really some great boots from Muism. They are scripted to change to 4 different colors too.

Lots of fun things in this little hunt! A hunt for those who don't really like to hunt!

There are lots of great shops on the Euphoria sim! A great sampling of what SL has to offer in high end goods. They also offer a rewards system as an added incentive to shop there!

We Love Free Shooz!

And we love the great styles at N-Core!!! One of my first pair of heels in my shoe collection is a pair of N-Cores. I still love them & still wear them a lot.

These little booties with socks are going to be a new favorite in my collection, I'm sure!  They are so nicely textured from the leather of the bootie to the knit of the socks. To get them just join the group & wear your tag. The group is free to join.

Menu driven, you can do so much with these booties. There are 3 colors you can choose from, red, white & black, the socks can be worn or not and if you choose to wear them, you have the option of 11 colors! Laces, lace rings & soles can be changed as well as resizing. A great little pair of booties.

New At Analog Dog

While reading my favorite blog ~ A Passion For Virtual Fashion ~ I see Harper in a new hair from Analog Dog that I fall in love with. They say a great model will wear clothes that you want to go buy & Harper always does just that for me. So off I go to get my very own Susanna hair!

I love Queue Marlowe's hair styles & have many of them. Another of my favorites is "Harper", go figure!

You can wear Susanna with the long strands of hair coming down the left front or without the additional prim, so it will be versatile too. I am wearing it in my signature AD color, cinnamon, but there are 10 colors included in the Darks package. Susanna will cost you 300L, very worth every linden!

*Latte* Revisited

One of my favorite boutiques, *Latte* has moved to the sky I went to see the new shop and discovered a larger shop with a great loft that houses the group gifts.

There are new items in the shop & a new group gift. As usual, the dress is great! I love the rose at the neckline!

While I was there I also picked up the New Year gift I must have missed before. A nice little black dress that was probably very festive for New Year's Eve parties but I believe it's a fab-o dress to have because you can dress it down too by removing the bow & gloves.

It's a Model Life

I'm not sure what they are teaching in modelling school these days but both of these avis had extensive experience listed in their profiles. They did not go to the same school or I could blame it all on one school. They did not show the same experiences, so no, not that either. I just blame it on stupidity. Plain & simple.

Ladies, just zoom in on your avi before you go out. If you can't get close enough, try Ctrl 0 to zoom in & Ctrl 9 to back you out when done. Just please, please look. Look up & down. Look all around. Just LOOK!

Seriously, tuck those boobs away before going shopping. I don't believe anyone in that shop wanted to see your bare boobs. I believe she left the system piece off which maybe looked like a tank type top, can't be positive though. And if that outfit was bought like that she could have added one of Jane's tank tops to the outfit......31 colors, always free!

Next...those eyelashes! Seriously! What are those, spiders on your eyes? Badly clumping mascara? I know there are MANY shops that make wonderful realistic looking eyelashes for daily wear that look fabulous! Those lashes might be great for a runway show but keep them on the runway! Even I have a few pair of fantasy eyelashes but you will not catch me out shopping with them on!

Beware, I am always camming & I will catch you looking stupid!

NOH8

Sometimes I have to blog about things near to my heart's feelings. This is a campaign that needs to be shared.

On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

This was a short time after the public voted to ALLOW same sex marriages! Many people married, people who shared their lived for years, people who loved very much, families were joined. Only to have this torn apart.

Celebrity photographer, Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley began a silent campaign in protest. To this date there have been over 8000 photographs taken in protest. There are now shoots staged all around the US! And people are photographing themselves in their silent protests.

We have a NOH8 campaign here in Second Life also. YOU can show your support but sending a photo of yourself or with friends and have it displayed at the gallery!
